Family, charity and being involved with our local community is at the heart of what we do here at De Rossi Griffiths. From opening our free advice clinic during the pandemic to becoming a qualified Dementia Friend, our achievements demonstrate the wide range of services we can offer our clients.
We are pleased to announce that we have recently been accredited with the Disability Confident Employer Scheme (Level 2). This accreditation has equipped us with the knowledge and resources to recruit and develop disabled people for our business and help them thrive at work.
Diversity and inclusion is imperative for De Rossi Griffiths. Being a Disability Confident Employer helps us reach a wider pool of talent and expand on what we can offer our clients.
During the 2020 COVID-19 Pandemic Rhodri Griffiths established and headed a Free Legal Consultancy Clinic. This was carried out by presenting guidance on a Facebook page to assist anyone affected by the rapidly changing legal platform, based on the Coronavirus Act 2020 and all of the supplementary legislations. The guidance covered everything from furlough and self-employment grants to MOT extensions and accessing Business Wales crisis support. Overall reach is over 400,000 people.
Rhodri was nominated by 47 people for a St Davids Award due to his services to the community.
People living with Dementia face social isolation, now more than ever. At De Rossi Griffiths, we provide our employees with a training course to ensure that we provide the best possible care for our Clients.
Alzheimer’s Society’s Dementia Friendly Communities programme focuses on improving inclusion and quality of life for people with dementia in a number of ways. The Dementia Friendly Communities recognition process encourages communities to support people living with dementia.
The real Living Wage is the only UK wage rate that is voluntarily paid by almost 10,000 UK businesses. At De Rossi Griffiths, we believe our staff deserve a wage which meets everyday needs – like the weekly shop, or a surprise trip to the dentist.
During the Tenovus Free Wills Month March 2022, De Rossi Griffiths raised approximately £56,000 for Tenovus Cancer Care.
We are delighted to have gained recognition for a letter prepared to the Welsh Government for a group action of Carmarthen Businesses and Rhodri Griffiths presented this at Llanelli Magistrates Court, with an adjournment of proceedings to recover unpaid sums for our submissions of a void Business Improvements District (BID) ballot for Carmarthen town businesses. The BID scheme involved local companies paying a percentage of their rateable value every year which then goes on to create a pot of money that BID management can spend on improving the profile and look of the business area. However, COVID-19 changed the priorities for a lot of businesses, with many feeling unsure about what their BID fees were going towards.
Successfully appealed a conviction for Environmental Criminal prosecution against haulier, for a conviction of depositing soil and mixed stone to farms across Wales, during the construction of the gas pipeline from Milford Haven. To include a successful appeal against a POCA (Proceeds of Crime Act) claim for £5,000,000.00.
Successfully changing the entry age for Amateur Boxers to compete at the Commonwealth Games in Delhi, due to Wales’ most decorated Heavyweight attaining the age of 34 years old at the Games. Having represented Wales at 3 previous Commonwealth Games, this was a record 4th attendance for a boxing athlete. The basis of the appeal was two fold, firstly the definition of 34 years was deemed a cut off date, but the interpretation was argued to be inclusive of the 34th birthday and the following 364 days thereafter. Furthermore, the Games were rescheduled to a later date due to the soaring temperatures, illustrating the fact a qualifying athlete on merit and success would have been of age in the summer, but not in September. There was no medal this time to follow the previous Bronze Commonwealth and Silver World Championship honours, but it was an honour to be an integral part of setting a World Record 4th attendance for a boxer at the Commonwealth Games.
Chancery Court settlement achieved by Equitable remedy pre-trial in a matter of mistaken identity and Phoenix Life paying out on an incorrect policy by no fault of my client. The Maxims of Equity applied, which overrule Common Law restitution for similar cases of unjust enrichment, on the grounds my client had cashed her late husband’s life insurance policy, without mistake on her part and used the monies to repay mortgages on 4 rental properties. The application of the Maxims of Equity settled a mistaken life insurance payment of £260,000 by my client returning the remaining £4,000 balance, which remained after all mortgages had been repaid. In Equity, one cannot enter into a debt to satisfy a mistake made by the other party (in simple terms). Phoenix Life had 2 clients with the same name and the same postcodes, although there was a significant difference in the value of their policies. And, yes, we also successfully claimed the legitimate policy!
Having been refused Continuing Healthcare funding by the NHS, I appealed the decision and successfully reclaimed £44,600 already spent by the family for care. My client, having sustained a huge stroke, was immobile, unable to communicate and displayed emotional upset with an inability to communicate her needs. I managed to address the four qualifying factors used by the NHS and not only did I score a qualifying primary need in one, but all four.
Headed a collaborative panel of Solicitors advising Client B in the defence of public allegations made by a sitting Politician, whose aim was manipulating a climate of anti-Semitic investigations within politics, through the allegations. The politician’s position following the successful defence was the removal of his own public profiles on social media entirely.
Client H had been previously denied Continuing Health Care (CHC) Funding, despite him having a Primary Health Need, therefore we acted on behalf of Client H and successfully challenged another Decision Support Tool (DST) assessment by the NHS. Having successfully challenged the DST, our Client has now been awarded full CHC funding. To view the letter confirming our success, please click on the link below.
