Our vision

At De Rossi Griffiths we have a simple vision.

We want to utilise the law for a legitimate tax-efficient estate, free from the burden of intrusive Care Home fees and unnecessary death taxes through proper planning and preparation through Wills and Trusts.

We also successfully challenge NHS Continuing Healthcare assessments to ensure the residential care is not privately funded when it should not be. We assess the case and only take on the challenge if we believe there is a prospect of success.

Family and charity are close to our heart, which is why we offer a discounted introduction to estate planning for young families and each of our staff have an elected charity that we support, for a month of the year, providing access to our services for their supporters and Beneficiaries.

Whilst reading Law I had an odd enjoyment in the subject of Trusts, so I pursued my passion and I specialise in Wills, Powers of Attorney, Trusts, Chancery Court matters with an expertise in Equities, Estates and Tax Planning. I am a Qualified Dementia Friend, facilitated through my work with Dementia UK, and take instruction on mitigating Care Home costs. I find this area of work highly rewarding and pride myself on having a really approachable way of dealing with the most difficult of situations. My chosen charity is Dementia UK as they give support to families of those suffering from dementia and this is close to my heart.

I enjoy delivering a result for all of my clients and am invested in everybody I represent. With a modern approach to the ever-changing world we now live in, I see clients by Zoom, WhatsApp, at our offices, at their homes or offices, travelling throughout England and Wales.

As an advocate for proper apportionment of Care Home costs and fees, I regularly challenge NHS Continuing Healthcare Funding CHC assessments and this area of law has allowed for the advocate in me to flourish. It is also rewarding to know that the successful challenge allows greater access to care under the NHS.

I am a fluent in both Welsh and English and proud to be a family man and love nothing more than spending time away from the office with my family. You will potentially see glitter on my suit or hair during a meeting, as I have a young daughter who loves anything with glitter on it and that stuff gets everywhere! So I apologies in advance.

Revd Dr James Deacon
Practice Manager

Hi, since joining De Rossi Griffiths my life and career has been one awesome journey. I wear many hats – I am Head of Health and Late Life Planning, Practice Manager, Health and Safety Coordinator, First Aider and finally my role has expanded to joining the Board of Directors in February 2022 but, above all else I am an all-round good listener. I am also trained in Alternative Dispute Resolution and an Associate member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.

My previous experiences are varied to say the least, working in Civil Service, central government and local authority. I have also volunteered with many charities and organisations since leaving school. I spent ten years as a Franciscan Friar then known as Brother David, serving the community where I lived and further afield, and most recently I was a Mental Health Support Worker working with people who have mental health issues and learning disabilities. I also carried out risk assessments in care. Then many moons ago, I donned the glitter and dazzled as a drag artist. A fabulously rainbow coloured history of roles has made me who I am today, someone who will listen, fight your corner when needed and I’m not afraid to speak truth to power.

And if that is not enough, my interests include reading, baking (I absolutely adore French pastries), playing my PlayStation and listening to music… I am a huge fan of the ’80s ballads and let’s not forget the Divas!

My chosen charity is Cancer Research UK, this is a charity very close to me as I and many others have been touched by cancer.

Solicitor

Greetings. I’m Mike. I’m old. I’ve been a Solicitor for over 30 years. In my time I’ve been through virtually every traumatic life event, and I’m proud to say I’m still standing and able to use my life experience to help others.

In my time I’ve been a Police Officer, Security Guard, Steelworker, Clerk, Barman, Student Union President, Night Club Doorman, Solicitor, Company Director and Taxi Driver, so I dare say I have plenty of life experience and empathy. I love working with people and helping people through life’s twists and turns where I can. I have helped people often in some of the most upsetting and distressing periods in their lives.

I have been a Police Station Duty Solicitor, Court Duty Solicitor and I was on the Law Society’s Family Law Panel from its inception. I qualified (twice) as an accredited Family Mediator and a Collaborative Family Lawyer. I was managing partner of my previous firm. For the last 18 months I have been dealing with Equity Release cases, and  with all of my above experience, I’m now looking forward to helping De Rossi Griffiths, utilising my skills to provide a quality service to clients.

Accounts Manager

My name is Janet Taplin and I moved to Wales with my Husband and Mother in November 2018 from Wiltshire. My previous roles have been mostly working for GP Practices in admin working my way up to Deputy Practice Manager. My interests are mainly working on our smallholding in Llanpumsaint, looking after our many rescued animals from cats to horses. This enables me to keep fit and active doing something that I really enjoy. I love living in a remote part of West Wales in a friendly community and interacting within village life. I volunteer with the local Village Hall Committee as its Treasurer, my role at De Rossi Griffiths is dealing with the Accounts.

I feel very privileged to be part of a very professional and friendly team.

I enjoy reading and writing in my spare time, I also am invested in films and television, enjoying films such as the Lord of the Rings trilogy. I’m interested in History, finding eras such as the Regency and Edwardian eras topics of interest.

I also enjoy going for walks, especially in the Summer when the weather is nice. I have a Bachelor’s degree in History and English Literature, and had my work experience with Dyfed Archaeological Trust, which I enjoyed immensely. I hope to dedicate more of my free time to history volunteering.

My chosen charity is the National Autistic Society, who have helped direct me and many other Autistic people with finding the proper support.

I am Rhodri Kynaston and I work at De Rossi Griffiths as a Charities Liaison and Manage the firm’s logistics. I am a Carmarthen local but also work at our London Office as I previously lived in London where I gained and developed a background of working with a variety of charities.

Dion Goh
Intern

Hi, my name in Dion. I am a third year Law student at Swansea University. I joined De Rossi Griffiths as an intern with little to no previous experience working at a law firm. However, in my short time working here, I feel like I have already learned a lot from everyone else working here and I am enjoying the structure of the work environment here where every person is taught to be able to do a little bit of everything thus allowing the work to be spread evenly amongst everyone and I can easily ask for advice and direction when I get stuck with a task.

I love doing outdoor activities such as playing football, basketball or hiking with my dogs. I am also a licensed scuba diver and have been on multiple dives in different countries. However, I also love just staying at home and playing video games or watching Netflix.

My chosen charity is Battersea Dogs & Cats Home as I am a firm believer in adopting stray animals as opposed to buying them from breeders.
